P.T.A.
It’s been a busy old year for the PTA. This select group of parents and teachers have raised over $5000 for the benefit of our children!
We held our AGM tonight and it was encouraging to hear about the fun had during fundraisers, the support of teachers and families, and the opportunities to be visible in the community. It was also wonderful to hear how well our schol is going, the peaceful and happy school tone. The Board of Trustees has decided that all the children are getting a small special treat soon because of the way they have worked and behaved.
At our monthly meeting we have decided to allocate $1000 to the classroom staff to provide some winter games and activities for classes. We are also supporting the school garden programme (- it’s great to see the garden being looked after so well!). The Bokashi and composting will be kick-started with the buckets, and $100 for odds and ends. We look forward to seeing and hearing of the progress in the garden.
Recently we have bought “Shirley Intermediate School” jackets to keep our teachers warm and proud in the winter winds while on duty, coaching sports teams, school trips etc.
Families should be aware that we do not want to see any child miss out on school events due to financial issues. Please make contact with Michelle or Liz of you want discrete assistance – no promises, except that if we can help, we will.
We’re looking forward to another year helping out at SIS. Please contact Michelle or Liz at the PTA via the school office, or contact the Principal, Geoff Siave.
