Whanaungatanga Group

For decades SIS has had groups of hardworking PTA parents who have worked very hard behind the scenes raising much needed funds and complementing school activities and resources. This has been fantastic. A review of PTA functions early in 2013 has lead to the closure of the PTA as we know it, and the emergence of the Whanaungatanga Komiti.
Whanaungatanga literally means “family-ness”, but refers in a broader way to a sense of belonging or of unity.  The Whanaungatanga Komiti has three main purposes:

1) Leading Learning – Providing parents and community with learning opportunities which enhance knowledge and understanding between school and home.

2) Coordinating Help – Providing the link between parents who are able and willing to help, and the teachers who are keen to have some help.
The Whanaungatanga Komiti is chaired by a Board of Trustees member, and reports to the Board of Trustees each month.
The WK does not hold any funds.
He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.
What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people
